    The Grove II

Quaking Aspen Facts: The sound of the wind thrashing through the leaves of these trees is quite distinct and different from most trees in a given locale. What makes the "thrash" noticeably different is the ability of the leaves (populus) to twist and bend allowing more free movement of the leaves in the wind. This characteristic is not quite fully understood. It is believed that it helps protect the trees from severe winds; or it is thought to improve the rate of photosynthesis.
