My First DigiCam

... was an Apple QuickTake 100, which I bought used some time back in the last millenium. It came complete with a "macro lens", built-in flash, and its memory (not expandable) held a whopping eight pictures at VGA resolution (640 x 480), or 32 images at QVGA (320 x 240), or a mixture of both. It was fun. It was a first. It was not much of a camera.

P.S. While I'm at it: My 2nd DigiCam was a Casio Exilim EX-M2: 1600 x 1200 pixels, SD card, credit card size (only thicker), MP3 player included, ... I actually used that camera to take photos, not just for playing around. Its white balance often went a bit too green, and what it(s noise reduction?) did to fine details wasn't exactly high fidelity, but I loved it for its small size, which allowed me to easily take it with me everywhere. That was 2002 - years before cell phones got useable cameras included. Next was another P&S: Canon's Ixus 400 (aka PowerShot S400). If it wasn't for that digicam's shutter lag, I might still be shooting with it. The way it is, it wasn't very useful for photographing (fast) moving objects, especially in dim lighting, so I then switched to my first DSLR, Canon's EOS 350D (aka Rebel XT), which has later been complemented with a pocket sized FujiFilm F31fd. I still use these two cameras, besides my since then acquired Canon EOS 40D.

Had a Hi 8 for my first camcorder and a 2megapixel Fuji for my first camera. Digital gave rise to Flickr and a new breed of amature. Never would have started if not for The digital sensor and memory card. Very cool shot Chris

OK, here's two images this digicam dinosaur took:

I took them while trail riding in our local woods, all by myself.
As you can see in the 2nd shot, the QT100 really did have a flash. :-)

Btw, I had to dig deep in obsolete hardware to recover *any* of the QT100's output.
By now, both that camera (still functional) and the Macs it could talk to are gone. RIP.
