Packing

I forgot to put one important piece of gear in this picture. Can you see what's missing? (No, I'm not talking about the bike.)

10mm - ISO400 - f/4 - 1/40 - flash bounced off ceiling
___

P.S. I've added notes explaining the items depicted. Things I personally do not consider strictly necessary for a summer bike trip in the high mountains have been placed in [brackets]. Things I did not use on my most recent trip have been put in (parentheses).

P.P.S. For those who want to do an extended MTB trip themselves, my recommendation is to aim for a full backpack weighing in at 5kg / 10lbs (which would be perfect), so that you'll end up with one weighing about 7kg / 15lbs (which is what you see in this shot here, with the tools in the saddle bag weighing less than an additional 1kg / 2lbs). 10kg / 20lbs would already be too much for a backpack to enjoy the ride, imo.

I am totally viewing all of this backwards.....

so where is the tape that kept your shoes together? :)
where is the sunscreen and chapstick?

And exactly what did you forget to pack? The shoes?

@ Tracie: I forgot to put the shoes into this picture, yes.
Couldn't have possibly forgotten to take them on that trip, though, as the only other "shoes" I took are on the very left in row two; they would have felt funny leaving the house for the train station. :-)
