if i could tell the story in words, i wouldn't need to lug around a camera ~ lewis hine

i have borrowed these from the local charity shop where i volunteer. i wanted to hold them and just look at them, take it all in and get the feel of them... they could be mine for £30.00 each. ahhh....decisions, decisions. very tempted, but i have a feeling they'd be very similar to the nikon fm that i already have in terms of pic results. they're not in mint condition and need to be cleaned and tested but like i said, soo tempting - oh.... the dilemmas life throws at us! ;=)

Such beautiful objects of desire. Better than any jewellery. Just imagine if they could talk and tell you about the many sights that they had captured. That would be so magical.

so wonderful Christine. i am going always to have a soft spot for vintage film cameras. the Zenit here is very similar to what i have, it is a nice camera and takes good photos. but it is the only film camera that i own so i can not compare to something else and recomend anything. very similar to you, i am so considering buying another film camera, but do not want to spent lot of money and also, do not want to buy another one that would be very similar to my Zenit :;) i was thinking about Yashica, but they come in so many types and so many different pirce tags. that Mamiya looks very pretty also, both cameras here are very tempting indeed.
charity shop, wolunteer, that sounds just wonderful. would love to do the same one day.

Oh, so tempting! I saw a lovely nikon film camera in a shop window in Lyme Regis last week - for £30 too, but I went off to think about, came back and it had been sold! These make a wonderful picture:-)

Old cameras are great.... they do make you wonder of all the great images they've captured! Great softness to this shot.

Those look like some great finds Christine :D Would not be too bad to have some variety in film cameras right? haha. If anything, you should be buying another film camera for my sake since I don't have any... doesn't make much sense on a rational level but any reason to buy a new camera right? :D

beautifully photographed! As for cleaning that they need, the Zenit might be a little difficult to find a reasonable price for a CLA but the Mamiya, I know a guy... Wonderfully photographed! Have a wonderfully relaxing weekend, Christine.

I wonder what you have decided, chris and think that if you don't have them you will be wishing that you had - if you are anything like me, that is. I used to work in an antiques centre and often would leave something and then go to work intending to buy it only to find it had gone in the meantime, so frustrating as the old things rarely come again. Good luck and have a great weekend !

Zenit is a great camera, but not as great as Nikon FM. Well it's just my personal opinion, though. Which FM do you have? If it's FM2, I suggest you let go of these babies, because FM2 has a much better quality.

But regardless of their quality, you, C, can turn every picture into something magical, whether it is taken by FM2 or other cameras :)

      thank you so much everyone!!!!!

agree nick. cameras over jewellery for me too! (but they do talk for sure - says all in just one pic!)
so much to learn isn't there? so vast...have seen so many beautiful images taken with the yashica.
oh no! i feel your pain...never fear, there'll be other opportunities i'm sure!! :-) next time, if they call out to you, you'll know what to do!
thought u had one (as u took some pics that look like it on your blog?)
you have such a cooool collection bridget...and i see your collection is growing....yes, i don't fancy spending much on cleaning. if only i could do it myself, now that would be something.
i think i'll just continue to hold and look. i still have them but need to return them this wk sometime. i'm still undecided, but after the brilliant advice received, maybe will hold out until something in better condition turns up. they get different cameras coming in all the time.
brilliant d. i think i'll take your advice..i have the nickon fm (pre fm2) - it could be the lens, but i feel quite limited. i need to borrow one of your cameras some time! hehe!!
ooh. what a treat. i hope it works too! looking forward to seeing pics!!!
