Round and round we go....

This is a 6 hour exposure from 12:30am-6:30am. I tried this several times and it would always end up clouding up or at least a few would roll through. I was only going for 4hrs but didn't wake up till 6:30. Almost blew it! Not too much longer and it would have been junk. Got one meteor in there as well on the bottom of the trails. A little hard to see with the resize.
    Taken with a Leica M5 and a Voigtlander 15mm Super-Wide Heliar lens@f4.5 on
Portra 160VC film. I turned the lights on for 45 seconds and the snow on the deck lit up the front of the cabin from a window on that side. Then off to bed!

Fantastic. It came out really great. This is only possible with shooting film. I would love to try it by myself. Very inspiring.

How did you not overexpose the light from the door? I would have burned the heck out of that area.

    31. Jesus R. Hernandez (41 months ago | reply)

      Beautiful shot btw.

    32. *_Chris (41 months ago | reply)

Thanks. I guess you didn't read the description :) The light was only on for 45 seconds. Got the exposure time for the light from a shot with my digital.

very cool, how do you figure out wheres the middle? is it a certain star?

    35. *_Chris (40 months ago | reply)

Thanks. It's the north star in the center and it's easy to find if you know where to look. This is how to locate it:

I read your description. How do you calculate long exposures? I understand what you did with the door. But how did you know that it was going to be a six hour exposure? Hopefully not from trial and error...
