AT-AT01

Ufff! Finished! This was a really, really hard work! The construction time was about 4 weeks, many, many frustrating moments included. My children learned a lot of new words, loud words, bad words! :)

Oh man that must have been fun! I love the texture work you did on the body.

Overall the legs seem to be short. Counting studs it doesn't seem like you're that far off, so it might just be the angle of the picture, it might also be the way you did the ankles.

After seeing a picture of an AT-AT that required some central support structure, I've come to realize that getting one of these things to stand on its own is no small feat, so nice work there too!

That is so freakin' awesome. Absolutely love the feel of the plating. Little uneasy about the darker feet.. what was your reference? were you trying to make them look wet or dirty? Some of the pics I have show the feet a little darker, but other views reveal that to be just lighting. Psiaki could be right about the legs.. from what I can tell, thigh should be about the same as knee to foot. In any case I'm lovin' it

Minifigure scale AT-ATs have never failed to impress me, and yours is no exception. I love the seamless SNOT work and thoroughly tiled finish, and of course having this behemoth stand on its own is an impressive feat in itself.

However, I will admit that something about it does look a bit 'iffy', so to speak. (This may seem a bit more 'involved' than the light commentary that generally proliferates on Flickr, but I assure you that my intentions are only for the best. =) )

More than anything, I think your creation would benefit from some work on the shaping of the troop section, as you've canceled many of the trapezoidal shapes whereas others took care to include them.In addition, I noticed that the legs were as wide across as the troop section – I can't help but think that three studs across each might be pushing it a bit, as most AT-ATs I've seen have had legs no more than 2-2.5 studs in width, and of course the legs should be tucked under the troop section. This, coupled with the slight stockiness around the ankles, might be what's causing them to look too short as psiaki mentioned. Rocko was able to shape the ankles on his AT-AT quite nicely, so I would suggest referring to that creation if you haven't already.

Lastly, this is a minor nitpick, but the viewport could do with a bit of beefing up and might also look better if shifted downward by a brick or two.

Again, this is stunning work, and I would be interested in hearing your thoughts on these suggestions should you choose to further develop this. Really great job.

I'm not quite sure I'll probably still make an update and then I'll try it with a little bit longer legs. Thank you for your comment!

Wow thank you for the time you have taken to write your comment. I think the feets are certainly not perfect and I will change a bit.

This is absolutely stunning. I've been meaning to make an AT-AT myself at some time, but never got around to it since there are already so many good examples to be seen.
