It's been a while since I started taking my first photos. But that time I had only a very simple film camera (first it was nice Soviet compact Agat 18K and later great but tiny Olympus mu II) and the pictures I was taking were also very simple - just to keep some events stilled on paper for good memory.
The things have changed quite recently after I moved to Japan couple of years ago and bought my first digital camera - Canon PowerShot A95. I can't say that it's very advanced, but it gives some freedom with possibility of manual control. Later I improved it a bit by attaching Marumi C-PL filter. So now the counter of images taken with this camera is showing about 5.5k shots. And the most recent update to my equipment is new Nikon D80 with magnificent Nikkor 18-200mm VR lense.

As you can see photography is my big hobby, and now I'm trying to move it to another level - change the quantity to quality. But compared to great number of really amazing pictures on Flickr I still feel my self as a very beginner.

I like to travel, see new places, meet new people, learn about other cultures. As you can probably see from the map below I have already visited a few countries (26 at the moment, that is 11.5%). However I've never been to South America and Australia... Hope someday I will fill this gap :-) Most of my travels are directly connected with my work - visiting scientific conferences, or making research...
