Hi, I'm an associate professor in Creative Design. I am researching in a period in the history of design; targeting on four women designers and on their achievements in the Art Decor Era. For that reason, I'm conducting a comparison research on investigating these women designers' marginality and on their identities. I compare their identities as women designers oppressed by the society and by the male counterparts of their time. They became success by appropriating the East elements as their exotic decoration elements in combated the unequal society. I am arguing that comparing to them with my own identity as a Formosan; who once colonized and dominated by the West. Formosan people should be able to challenge ourselves through appropriating the West elements and enrich our own contents from the East.
