I used to use a film camera (a k1000m if you must know). When I was in school or working in a photo processing store, this was fine. However, trying to do film as a poor person without a dark room doesn't work.

So then I did digital for a while, but quickly became disillusioned because ANYONE can make a good looking photo for the web with enough cropping. And by anyone, I mostly mean me. It just didn't feel like pictures took any more effort anymore when I could just crop them down to look good no matter what.

I got back into photography recently, though, and even bought myself a nice new camera (T1i). I have some very strict rules for myself, though. I'm only allowed to do things in photoshop I could do in a darkroom. That means color/contrast correct, exposure, and some messing with colors. Additionally, the only time I'm allowed to crop is to show detail better, and even then, it has to be a real exception. If I can't frame the picture correctly to begin with, I don't deserve to be able to crop it later just because my camera has 15 megapixels.

So, recently, I got into HDR, then got really bored with it. I like contrast too much, I guess. So, now I'm back to normal photos with LOTS of contrast.
