I became interested in photography while finishing my Ph.D. dissertation on computer vision a few years ago. Photography has given me a whole new perspective towards images. They are no longer just pixels, texels, and correspondences, but abstract concepts captured by the photographer.
With the arrival of my son, Aidan, photography has since become an essential means for me to document his journey through childhood. It is an incredible feeling to flip through the instances of time captured on film (or digital) and be amazed on how far along Aidan has progressed from the day he was first brought out from the hospital.
I hope everyone will enjoy photography as much as I do. With only a little bit of effort at the beginning, the reward it brings is tremendous.
