"I think Yan is one of the most outstanding photojournalists working in the world today. In years to come I can see her being thought of in the same breath as Robert Capa, Alfred Eisenstaedt and Margaret Bourke-White. Her photos are exceptionally good. Yan is a wonderful Flickr friend too.....she's always ready with lovely comments and words of encouragement.. Thank you, Yan."

"Difficult to add to the great things already said about Yan.
I just find it amazing to see the way she captures the greatest moments in American modern history with such a great skill and elegant style. Looking at her stream is like having a privileged front-row seat to those events!
I also love the other angle of her photography, the more personal and diary-style photos; they make such a brilliant and diverse gallery!
And despite her success of being the best photojournalist around, she's always so helpful and kind to take time to visit our photos and dispense praise and advice.
    thanks Yan, 谢谢!"

"Yan Zhang has a wonderful photostream. What appeals the most to me are her portrait pictures, which are not arranged, but captures of everyday life, captures of peoples emotions, captures of moments in time.

Her landscape pictures also show a great sense for picture composition, inviting the viewer to watch them, transporting the mood of that particular scene."

"I have recently come across the work of Yan Zhang and immediately found it inspiring and highly versatile while crossing genres with ease. Her compositions and use of light, reflection, and shadow is highly creative. One moment is it a photograph of a lovely scene taken outside of Seattle to another scene of a once highly prominent figure in American government... this versatility makes for interesting perspectives by anyone that would view her work.

Yan Zhang has a passion for photography that is clearly evident and I find inspiring.

"Yan Zhang is an amazing photojournalist. Looking at her sports photography is a treat -- the action and emotion are palpable.

But she is so much more. Whether she is shooting a flower or a house or a child, she allows her soul to speak through her lens. She is a master of light and color, and a vessel for human emotion."

"Yan Zhang's wide variety of subjects and ideas is very intriguing to me. The crispness of her action shots, especially the Olympic trials, grabbed me first look. From her stills in the streets of Virginia to the dramatic shots in DC, the palettes of color and her imaginative "Bread Art" shot, there's a little something for everyone to enjoy.

Yan Zhang's distinctive ability to capture expressions makes her work standout as well, from pomp to pain, skillfully articulating the essence of each moment. One of my favorites is "Green is Beautiful", the tone in the light is so soothing, and the outline of the light itself appears as a "light shadow" of a person, if this makes sense.

I do believe her appreciation of literature and other art forms shines through in her photography, as well as the obvious joy she has for what she does. I'm grateful for the opportunity to share my impressions and thank Yan Zhang for sharing her work with us all."

"Yan Zhang's photography is special in that I'm often taken by the subject and forget I'm looking at a photograph. Balance in composition, light and colour demonstrate her technical ability. However, it's her point of view that is captivating.

Her photography transports the viewer and we forget that she actually gets to witness in person these interesting places and events. What an fascinating life she must lead.

I enjoy her photostream and I hope you will also."

"Yan Zhang is truly a great photographer and I am honored to be the first to write a testimonial for her. Her photographs are beautiful, technically precise, well documented, and informative. She grew up with a father who photographed, and she went to the number one journalism school in China.

As photographer for the National News Agency in China, she has access to incredible current events. One photograph shows President Bush pictured with his arm around President Sarkozy. Farther down the photostream, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton on the campaign trail. If sports photography is your interest, maybe you should look at the Olympic Trials for swimming, the US Open, or the NBA Playoffs.

She is not only a storyteller with her pictures, she also is able to show creativity and artistry with the camera. Yan Zhang demonstrates balance, symmetry, and tonality with pictures of store fronts, window reflections, and architectural ornamentation. The evidence of her craft is displayed through out her stream.

I hope you will enjoy her works as much as I do."
