I'm an amateur photographer, having learned some of the basics of using an SLR from my parents who both had one, I experimented with point hole cameras and developing B+W film when I was young.

Early on I also discovered how to get in trouble with a camera, having been approached by soldiers after photographing a minefield in Cyprus. Often today my lenses and tripods seem to lead to problems even away from the minefields!

I got a Digital Rebel around 2002 which really encouraged me to experiment more and really helped me solidify photography as a hobby. Today I have a Canon 40D and a few nice lenses to go for it (Canon runs in the family), and occasionally hook up a telescope to the lot too.

My interests are wide-ranging, but lately I've been enjoying the winter by trying to get good macro shots of snowflakes.
I have travelled quite a bit in my life, and photography has been one of my favourite past times while doing so for a long time. Lately I have been on a road trip from Toronto to Florida, a trip to Dubai and a visit to London and parts of the UK (from which I still haven't sorted through all the pics!).
