Happily Married. My wife purchased my first camera after 35 years of marriage. I have never owned one. She on the otherhand has owned many and she takes a lot of great pictures.

My first camera is the Canon XTi 10.1 MegaPix. She got me two additional lens with it...one is for Macro and the other (telescopic) is for taking pictures of things far away. As you can tell, I don't even know the terminology because I am a beginner and an amature. She also gave me a tri-pod, six backgrounds, two light stands with umbrellas and the background stand. I think she is telling me something. I am looking forward to taking some pix with it and learning how to use it.

Since I play around on the computer a lot, she also bought me the Photoshop CS. I have been so impressed with what people have been doing with their pix on Flickr, I am waiting for some holiday time off to go picture crazy. In the meantime, I have been taking a few pix on my property.

I retired from the Marine Corps in 1994 and I purchased my home with 21 acres in West Virginia and I own my own mountain and I have been taking some pix of my cats and stuff around the house. Many people dump cats on our property. My wife and I find them and take them in. We have had many from eight (8) to eighteen (18). We made arrangements with a local Vet. who has them fixed for a minimal expense but makes it back with our purchase of food and shots or other medical problems that may happen from time to time. We love our kats. We also had two dogs and two goats but now we only have cats.

My wife is a craft person. If she isn't buying them, she is making them. She makes small stuff but buys prim furnature from her favorite craft store (Merrywood Lanes) in Morgantown, WV. She works extremely hard taking care of the house and yard. I am a collector. Comics and sports stuff mostly. I try to go to comic conventions every year.

I hope that my new camera and software help me with some quality pix. I welcome any comments. Having input is the only way I can learn.

Finally, I read this somewhere and I thought it appropriate:

quote: "Amatures worry about equipment, Professionals worry about customers, Masters only concern themselves with the light".
