Jody Amable is a native Californian and proud of it. Since she grew up in a house without a computer or cable, her mom would often type formal documents on an old typewriter. Before it was unplugged and put back in the closet, Jody would write stories on it, usually involving her, some friends from school, and a time-travel machine.

Her stories have become a little more realistic since then, and she now writes about music, arts and entertainment, and the many weird, inspiring, and wonderful people that live in her backyard of the greater Bay Area. When she’s not writing, she can be found buying expensive party dresses that she will never actually wear, learning the accordion, going to Disneyland every chance she gets, pondering the cultural legacy of The Wizard of Oz, and exploring cities she’s never been to via Google Maps’ Street View function.

Her parents bought a computer and subscribed to cable in late 1998.
