WikiProject Public Art aims to encourage the sharing of accurate, informative and up-to-date information about public art.
The project was inspired by an appreciation for public art and a shared concern that many artworks remain invisible within the context of Wikipedia. As the field of public art continues to grow, there is an urgent need to document what these artworks mean to their communities. Because Wikipedia is a leading venue for the documentation of popular culture, it is an obvious place to initiate this work.
