His best landscapes - "Airborne", "Merry Christmas Flickr", "The Giants are Here", "Being Forested" - achieve greatness by their antiplay of light and dark - specifically foreground dark, background light. I would like to say Wouter aims for "filigree," though that term has "dainty" connotations and Wouter's work is not dainty. It is precisely in Wouter's subjects that one does not mind that color is destroyed."
