Stephen Proctor is a "VJ", or visual jockey; if this is a new term to you, think of it as "PowerPoint on steroids"! He's the co-founder of Grateful Inconvenience, Inc., a creative design & production company based in Nashville that focuses on live environmental design, film production & visual media. Most of his time is spent on the road working with artists & speakers such as Beth Moore, Travis Cottrell, Paul Baloche, Integrity Media & New Life Worship.
But Stephen's passion extends far beyond his events; he is dedicated to building community and raising up a generation of visual worshipers. He loves to instigate conversations with creatives, to awaken the Church to authentic worship, and to challenge church leaders in their approach and philosophies on technology & art. He believes a congregation can worship far beyond just the singing of songs; he knows that what we see with our eyes can help us to worship God. The Church used to be known for using art to tell God's story, and now She is returning to this place through the medium of technology. This is made evident by the fastest growing role on the church staff: the media director. But Stephen knows this is only the beginning, and soon the "visual worship leader" will be a role leading and shaping the future of the Church.
Stephen shares his experiences & stories from the road on his blog worshipVJ.com.
