i learned photography as a teenager. in college i messed around in the darkroom for several years. gradually, pressure of work and time constraint reduced my photography to little more than occasional snapshots. as digital cameras began to increase in sophistication and decrease in price, i began to once again view photography as a more serious pursuit. i have the good fortune of being invited to many different countries and i have begun to deliberately combine speaking engagements with opportunities to capture the motion i study in the laboratory through a different lens, so to speak! i use canon and leica cameras with a variety of lenses and frequently post my work on photo-criticism sites to try to learn more about my craft. i seldom use flash and seldom carry a tripod. often my work is blurry and rough, but so is the life and movement i am trying to capture.
