I have loved photography my whole life. In the last year I switched over to a new digital camera (Canon Rebel XSi with a 70-300 mm lense). My camera rarely leaves my side. I have been exploring the world of wildlife photography. I find it a real joy and challenge. Nature reveals its beauty before your eyes and in an instant it's gone. You have to let nature reveal it's beauty to you and you have the chance to photograph it as it's revealed. That's what I love about it. In this last year I've seen a lot of wildlife for the first time. Being in my 40's I can't believe I've had so many firsts. For example I saw my first Bald Eagle in the wild along the shores of Cape Breton. I photographed an osprey eating a fish on top of a telephone pole. Saw my first Snowy Owl although it was at a wildlife reserve. Heard wolves howling; saw moose in Algonquin park; my first spruce grouse in Algonquin engaged in it's mating ritual; followed my first beaver across an open field and was so close I wondered as it stood on it's hind legs and looked me in the eye what it would do. Saw my first wood ducks along the Grand River along with the Caspian Terns. Saw my first Red tailed Hawk fly off a telephone pole to the other side of the road and catch dinner - a snake. Hope you enjoy my photos. I love sharing the beauty of nature with those of you around the world. I equally enjoy all the photos I come across in different parts of the world. I know I won't get to visit all the wonderful places and so seeing it through your lense is what I love to do especially once my kids are nestled in bed and the house is quiet.

Nature is amazing. I love the fact that my nature photos are uniquely mine. I've had a once in a lifetime chance to capture that moment in time. This year has been amazing and am looking forward to my first owl in the wild. I'm hoping it will be this Fall or Winter or my first Bald Eagle along the Grand River close to my home. They are nesting close by after being wiped out in the 70's due to DDT's. The Grand River Conservation has done a fabulous job of cleaning up the Grand River and it's once again teaming with fish, especially bass and trout. The ospreys are back and now the Bald Eagles are moving back.

I have a facebook page "Friends of the Grand River/Walter Bean Trail". I post many of my photos that I've taken while hiking along the Grand River.

All my spare time now is spent hiking or exploring new places. I'm amazed at how much beauty is all around us.
