Kudos the Kudu is the mascot for Wits University. The Alumni Office developed a logo for the Proudly Witsie campaign that incorporated the Kudu of the Wits Coat of Arms to represent Witsies. Apart from its close identification with the Wits logo, the Kudu has many characteristics that make it ideal to represent Wits pride. It is a beautiful, large and powerful African antelope with magnificent annulated spiral horns. The Kudu has a remarkable sense of hearing, sharp eyesight, a keen sense of smell, and can outrun most animals. Kudos - which means honour, glory and praise for exceptional achievement – is an apt name for the Wits Kudu!
