SELF PORTRAIT


I WANT TO PROMOTE MY ISLANDS TO THE WORLD.

I am a photojournalist for 16 years now and have been traveling to document stories of human interest. As a writer, artist and photographer, I scribble, paint and capture experiences, exploring unknown places armed with my dental floss, cameras and asthma inhaler.

I used to be afraid to go out of my box, literally. One day after a rude awakening in my early years, I decided to live life on the edge and never looked back.

I have discovered little known places, bonded with the locals, ate the most exotic and unfamiliar dishes, and have my share of Oprah moments. I am an insomniac who loves to write in the wee hours of the morning.

Currently, I contribute to several publications, and maintain a lifestyle and travel column in the local paper. I also give workshops on art, creative writing and photojournalism. The other half of my so-called split personality is often in public events: hosting on TV and affairs, while my other non-sociable half prefers to visit unknown destinations, most often alone.

I am a nonconformist, obsessed with funny street signs and Asian horror movies and am pleasantly unpredictable. I used to have this defunct and infamous site online, where I suddenly got my 15 minutes of fame (or notoriety) to Pinoys around the world in 2006 because of my collection of funny signs, which went viral for awhile.

I am often seen around in my Michael Jackson shirts, and shall continue mourning his loss.
