I was born in 1952 in Massachusetts, north of Boston. In college, I studied biology and earned a Ph.D. in 1979. For more than 25 years, I have worked as an editor in the field of scientific and medical publishing. My parents gave me my first camera – a Kodak “brownie” box camera – when I was seven years old. Photography has been an enduring interest throughout my life.

For the past several years, I have studied at the International Center for Photography in Manhattan. I have taken classes with Per Gylfe, Mark Haven, Susan Kleckner, and Lynn Saville. My work encompasses both the complexity of urban settings and the tranquility of the seashore. Perhaps arising from my scientific training, I am currently working on capturing the photographic subject as a reflection of light in many planes. My NYC Reflections series, which developed with Susan Kleckner during her “A Roll A Day” course at ICP, is both playful and insightful in its treatment of everyday subjects amidst the bustling world of New York City.

I work in the digital format, shooting with Canon and Sony equipment.
