This account is for historical photos and documents relating to my research on the First World War and English Civil War.

It includes photos and documents relating to my great-grandfather, William A. Wenham, and his experiences in the Great War. He joined 1/5th Lincolnshire Regiment in September 1914 and soon became the battalion's number one goalkeeper. He went to France with the battalion in February 1915, and was wounded and captured by the Germans near Gommecourt on 6th December 1916. He spent the rest of the war as a prisoner at Wahn, Berlin, and Cottbus (where he was a member of a concert party called the Bing Bong Boys), and was finally discharged from the army in March 1919.
