Now the more meaningful stuff....


An animal lover- especially fond of horses and dogs, and photography. I have a pair of horses- LEO is the black QH, Lacy is the snowflake Appy, and a pair of dogs- Shannon is the sheltie, and Cookie is the Cream Colored mixed bread.

I try to carry my camera everywhere as I have learned that most photographic moments taken with animals can not be scripted or set up (you need to be always ready).

The other thing I have learned over the years is that not everyone will like every photo I shoot. I shoot subjects I love, which isn't everyone's cup of tea. For all those out there just starting- my advice to you is shoot what you love (and save all your digitial shots- I have found stuff in shots later on I didn't see the first time I reviewed them).

By nature and profession, I'm not a very creative person. As a matter of fact, I've been told that I am too analytical for my own good, but my photography is my outlet to my creative side, and a window to my soul. In a stressful and demanding world, my horses and photography are my stress-relievers- things I look forward to at the end of the day. I'm always looking for a challenge with my photography, and often take many, many shots that just don't turn out the way I wanted them. But every once in a while, I find THE shot that I love. That's the beauty of photography- picturing in your mind what the shot should look like, then taking that shot and seeing your work (and having others actually like the shot).

Feedback on any of my photos would be appreciated (believe it or not- If you E-mail me suggestions to improve my existing shots (or give me ideas for new shots), I will read every one of them). I very rarely do any post processing. I review as I shoot to try to get the raw images as close to perfect as I can. Not that I'm against post-processing, but I'm a bit of a purist with my photography. That being said- a good FLICKR friend has turned me on to some post processing to enhance the shots I've taken and pushed me to become a better photgrapher.

I'm available for equine/equisterian photography (I especially like taking show and action pictures). If you want me to shoot pics at an event or at your farm, please contact me. I'm in the Fredericksburg VA area and often travel around the central and northern Virginia area at shows (that my horse competes in).
