Weir2X Photography | Landscape, underwater, portrait, infrared, and alternative process photography

Malcolm and Elisabeth Weir are a photographic team as well as husband and wife.

About Malcolm Weir | Weir2X

Malcolm first picked up a camera when he was 13, shooting family pets and landscapes until he dove into the world of underwater photography. (Sorry about the pun!) He's flown all over the world to swim in dive holes, coral reefs, and in shark cages. It will take years to scan and upload his backlog of slides – he loves everything about digital photography and is just glad most of his old glass fits his new Nikons! He's the classic camera geek, that you see carrying two cameras and a variety of lenses....

About Elisabeth Weir | Weir2X

Elisabeth always knew she was an artist, but couldn’t figure out why painting and drawing just didn’t do it for her – then she made the thrilling discovery that cameras were not just for holiday snaps, you could make art with them, too! She adores black-and-white portraiture and infrared photography, as well as processes like solarization. She's the art geek, who tended to wear berets and snootily discuss the comparative works of turn-of-the-century photographers....

This website showcases their works, from scans of slides and negatives over a decade old, to pictures shot yesterday, from Big Famous Rocks in Australia, to the streets outside their apartment in San Francisco. Along the way, some pictures of people, animals (and fishes!) as well!

We are Nikon-ers, rabid Photoshoppers, and love the new(ish) digital medium, although Elisabeth insists that she misses the smell of developer on her fingers….
