Hello to my fellow photogs, female and male, young and old;

I’ve been shooting seriously (or should I say happily?) since I bought my first Nikon (Nikon F with Photomic removable head and Nikkor 55mm f/1.2 lens), and in addition for super-size posters, a Yashika-D dual lens reflex (2 ¼” negatives!). In those days I processed my own film.

I am not a skilled photographer, but I take a lot of photos. My pictures have been used in one court martial and several civil cases.

My most famous shot—a photo of Los Arcos, Puerto Vallarta—was displayed for more than five years on The Newlywed Game whenever a couple won a vacation anywhere in Mexico.

The trunk of my car previously contained a full-sized tripod, a minipod, a backpack holding E-520 and E-30 bodies and a stable of lenses: two 12-60s, a 50mm f/2, a 70-300, a 9-18, two kit lenses, remote control, FL-50r flash, 5 BLM1 and 8 AA batteries with portable chargers, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Now, since I was "downsized" by the City of Los Angeles, my main mode of transportation is a mountain bike, and my cameras have also been downsized to my 3meg iPhone and an Olympus superzoom.

I love progressive technology and the instant gratification (and confirmation) that digital cameras provide. Unless you shoot slides or process film yourself (or like to pore over contact sheets), film cameras give you little control over the outcome of your labor.

Beautiful photography is in the eye of the beholder.

Good shooting!
