BIO:
I was born in Stockholm, Sweden. At 6 month of age me and my parents moved to São Paulo, Brazil, were we stayed for 2 years and then moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina where my brother was born. After 5 years in Argentina we moved back to Sweden, but this time we stayed in outside Malmö, the largest city in southern Sweden. 4 years in Malmö and time to move to Caracas, Venezuela. This country is my favorite of all the countries I've lived in, or visited. Amazing nature, flora & fauna, and perfect weather all year long. The city lies so beautifully surrounded by over 2000 meter high mountains. When the fires rage on the mountain slopes, all the animals flee down to the city and special radio announcement go out warning the citizens of all the venomous snakes taking shelter in the city. Venezuela has among the most venomous snakes in the world. These were the years that formed my great love for flora and fauna.

Kindergarten and primary schools have compulsory education on snakes in particular (for ex how to spot them and take care of wounds). Venezuela boosts among the most amazing mountains, beaches and corral reefs in the world. My childhood buddy Kiko, was bought here by my mom, a half year old, featherless dying Yellow-headed Amazon parrot. We also used to take care of stray dogs and cats.

After 5 years in this paradise, we moved back to Buenos Aires, Argentina where I attended my High School years. Argentina also had a lot of amazing nature to visit but it can't compete with the flora & fauna of Venezuela. They do have Whales, Sea Lions, Elephant Seals, and Penguins, among others to watch. We saw them at Península Valdés in 1981, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

My parents had a house in Fort Myers and then Sanibel Island, Florida for about 7 years so we stayed there at least once a year between 1976 and 1983.
In 1983 we moved back to Stockholm, Sweden and I've lived here, unwillingly, since then.

I've now been working for Greenpeace for several years.
I'm looking for an opportunity to move to warmer climates again, but it has to be in the wildlife conservation sector or the environmental sector and the job opportunities in these areas are not easy to come by.

My passion for Flora & Fauna is probably deeply rooted in my genes :) but my mother brought it to surface and nurtured it early on.

PHOTOGRAPHY:
I bought my first SLR camera at age 11, in Florida and have been at it since then with the exception of mid 90's to mid 2006 when I could not afford it, having very low paying

jobs and also being unemployed for 5 long stressful years.
I did some darkroom work with my photography in the 80's and I was High School Yearbook photographer.

I'm now hoping to soon upgrade my equipment with a new camera body. Rumors of a Nikon D400 and it's specs are looking interesting to me. Hopefully a release soon.

"Of all my contacts on flickr, I think Mats is the best nature photographer of them all. I've told Mats several times, and I will repeat it here. Mat's images belong in National Geographic. If you do not believe me, take a look at his stream. Its very easy for one to get half decent shots in a zoo. But, Mats images are all taken in the wild. He portrays the animals in their true habitat. In addition he really pays attention to technical details. His images are all technically superb. So, when that day comes Mats, please let me know. I want a copy of that magazine with a signed autograph. And, perhaps..one day..I will join you on one of your trips. Keep up the great work.
