My name is Rosalyn Pursey. I am an artist in the inner west of Sydney, exploring the nature of joy.

My paintings, whether acrylics on canvas or oils, involve luxurious and sometimes delicate textures. Paint is built up with mediums and materials to make each piece sensual. Colour and texture combines to evoke emotions.

My digital works include humourous and sometimes dark imagery influenced by stencil art around Sydney. I borrow from the bravery and exuberance of street art and burlesque to springboard into my own witticisms. These works are like sharing a clever comment or turn of phrase with a friend.

My photography tries to capture stillness in nature, movement in humans, stature and life in the man-made environment, and contradictions in gender.
