TEENS WALK THE ‘RED CARPET’ AT WARNER LIBRARY
IN A FASHION MAKE-OVER EVENT
Local teens got a chance to display their fashion sense on Third Friday, June 8th, 2008, from 5:30 – 6:30 PM, when they put on a fashion show called ‘Fashions for Life’ in front of the Warner Library. Each participant had pre-selected three outfits from area retailers ‘Pay Half’ of Tarrytown and ‘Target’ of White Plains, that would be suitable for their lifestyle. The student models had their hair styled at the newest neighborhood beauty salon, ‘Hair on Hudson’ and had cosmetologist Cynthia Walker of ‘Tarrytown Day Spa’ perform her make-up magic. The young adults then donned their outfits and ‘strutted their stuff’ down the walkway. Liz Siracusa, the Warner Library teen librarian was commentator for the event, announcing each student model by name and including such info as the participant’s school, grade, interests and a description of the outfits. Seats were conveniently lined along the library’s front walkway for friends and family to view the show. and passersby got a ‘glimpse of the glam’ at they walked or drove past the library. An event like this serves two goals: one, to promote the goods and services of our local establishments, and two, to help the participants gain poise and self-confidence in appearing in public. It was agreed that the novice models presented themselves in grand style and a ‘good time’ was had by all.
Thanks to Hector, Mike, Jacqueline, Eridelka, Matt, Emily, Yasmil, Juan, and Marco, the teen models.
