|

I started takin pictures in 2006 with just a cheap digital camera. I now have worked my way upto purchasing myself a Canon Rebel XTi. One of the best toys ive ever bought myself! Now, me and my sister wenspics have started a small business manipulating photos with a process that we have created ourselves called OPT.
Feel free to add me as a contact...the more, the better!

wenspics, www.flickr.com/photos/52516824@N00/, and i are admin for one of the largest and best groups on Flickr, called MY WINNERS. www.flickr.com/groups/mywinners/

"wans2pics photographs mysteries. Whether it's a Winnipeg that people have inexplicably abandoned, a derelict bridge crossing a stretch of prairie river that is too narrow for truck traffic and too delicate for trains, or a series of prairie lighthouses (!), you will find their photos posted on wans2pics' wonderful photostream. She brings prairie life to life, exposes it to the sometimes scathing big sky light filtering through her lens and finds beauty.
Take note first of wans2pics' puzzling series of Winnipeg street photos, beginning with 'Portage and Main'. wans2pics offers us these images without comment, heightening the mystery of why a busy urban center lacks the essential ingredient which normally makes a city great - namely, people. And by any measure Winnipeg is a great city. It's an amazing series and how she does it we can't be certain. I just wish somebody would do the same for Toronto - and I mean during rush hour.
Her too brief photo series on the bridge (May 25, 2010) similarly raises questions - why here, why then, why not tomorrow too, why - and again wans2pics refuses comment and rightly so: photographers should sometimes just present the world as they see it and let others make up words for their photos. And though people will say her beautiful lighthouses (June 1 and July 29, 2010) stand at lakesides and why is this mysterious, well, note too that her lakes seldom sport marine traffic and neither do her lakeside jetties. And so the question remains - how come wans2pics' prairies keep defying our expectations?
My favourite wans2pics' photos cover the wildlife abundant on the prairies but elusive too. In a photo dated March 2, 2010 (and as elegant and stunning as anybody's best wildlife photo) she gives us an owl sitting atop a winter-bare tree. Her nature photos often deal with the extremes of climate, as in a photo of a buck facing a snowbank dated December 28, 2009. Check out too 'Slick the Fox'; 'Interviewing the Bear'; one of the most beautiful photos of a lime green tree frog you'll see ('The Escape'); a Canada lynx ('the real fotoLynx'); a leopard ('workin those spots'); an equally beautiful 'Portrait of a Grasshopper'; an aggressive goose ('honk if you hate cameras!'); and a damsel fly giving her camera (and all of Flickr) the finger ('How's it goin'? Just flyin' through'). For more domesticated (but no less wild) animals, take note of 'backseat driver', in which her dog Rider pops up in the side rear view. Or 'Bandit makes a get away!!', in which her other dog takes hold of the car's steering wheel and refuses to take his eyes off the road - or give up the wheel.
These are just a few of the brilliant photos found here. There are stunning winter photos of prairie grass still caught in the wind (December 26, 2009), abandoned farm houses, burned out churches, winter roads and lakes and an amazing look at a winter's lakeshore in 'Driving out to Buffalo Point Resort'.
Take note too of her self-portraits. Prairie women seem to have a penchant for stunning self-portraits - and in this case for good reason. She ties for first place when it comes to prairie self-portraits.
wans2pics' photostream is like a prairie schooner that makes only the necessary stops - following the light and revealing all the wonders (and oddities) along the way. It rarely occurs to me to question what is behind photos I find on Flickr, whereas wans2pics' work usually keeps me wondering. Actually, it's not so much that she photographs her brilliant mysteries. Its more that she creates them."21st August, 2010

"It is true, without a doubt, that Flickr would not be the same without Wanda's presence. Her contribution is the renowned My Winners, a group which has remained near the top of the most interesting groups since the advent of group interestingness (it's currently #1). One can only imagine what Wanda goes through to manage My Winners. Yikes!
While she admits to being an amateur, the creativity and excellence of her captures are on-par with what passes for professional work. Her professionalism is also evident in her courtesy and demeanor. Her friendliness and encouragement only reinforce my belief that Wanda must have the quality where problems disappear at her smile.
Thank you, and best of luck on your future endeavors, Wanda."19th April, 2007

"Wanda is a superb photographer - and that is readily evident by just checking out her latest images on Flickr. She has a real sense of style, color and composition.
But what you might not know about this classy lady is that she is also a kind and considerate friend to hundreds of other Flickr photographers. She is always willing to comment and praise other's photos here, and she is a Flickr leader by displaying such generosity on a regular basis.
We are lucky to have her here at this magical site, and I'm pleased to be able to call her a friend..."27th December, 2006
