When I was a student I lived close to a place called Palo Duro Canyon in Texas. It's a fantasic place for photography and I would wander around with my Pentax K1000 taking random shots not thinking too much about it. For some reason I ended up using black and white film for one of these trips. When I went to get the film developed I just could not find anyone in the small city where I lived who would develop B&W, so I had the photos developed using the standard colour process. The result was an unusual sepia tone that really transformed the photos into something interesting. I think at that moment I was captured.
Now a few years down the track I still have the Pentax K1000 but live in New Zealand and have made the digital shift to a Pentax K10D. What a brave new world it is.
