I'm not really keen on those flashy doohicky award things - I mean they are flattering and all that but don't really help me learn anything or tell me why you like an image (or not). I take photographs - it's what I do- an obsession I can't stop, and love to do & don't consider myself a "photographer". Like life it's always an ongoing experience full of experimentation. If something doesn't work I try again and am constantly learning. One can never learn too much or read too much or take too many photographs. If I get one or two images a week I am happy with I am content. I prefer an honest comment and constructive criticism and hopefully return the same when I am not in a rush (sometimes it's hard to find time with family commitments but I tend to catch up overall eventually).

When I only had an SLR and used mainly B&W film, I thought I had some kind of "style" of photography maybe in an infant form but since playing around with digital (albeit point and shoots & canon powershot) I feel humbled again and also full of joy discovering a different kind of world. During the last few years while caring for sick family members - I've only had small bursts of time with the camera - mostly on the run to and fro other "things to do" with a lot on my mind & take advantage of what fate presents that way. Rarely have the privilege to wait for sunsets etc or set up a shot or for that matter get seriously into some kind of photographic style
- time just doesn't permit - have lots of ideas on the backburner though . It's a challenge at times with the equipment I have and satisfying when I get it right.

And most of all photography keeps me sane.

Sometimes I am positively awed by the work of the photographers on my contact list and struck dumb finding words leaving me speechless and agog. Whether I have said it or not before, I learn from you. Thank you for sharing your work and showing me your world, I am indebted to you not just for the chance to learn something, but to see places and people through your eyes, that I will probably never get the chance to experience in real life. That's some kind of bliss for my retina's, and becomes a part of my memory, enriching my world.

btw I use Babelfish translator to communicate with people who speak other languages - so if sometimes what I comment doesn't quite make sense, ask me to clarify. And feel free to use Babelfish to communicate with me.
