Velvet Factory è un luogo d’ospitalità creato a partire da un network di strutture artistiche, scientifiche e educative basate a Rimini: Associazione Slego, Giardini Pensili (performing arts / arte / musica / cinema), L’Arte dell’Ascolto (label), Scuola J. Bleger (scuola di prevenzione) e Università di Bologna. Queste realtà costituiscono il nucleo operativo del progetto ad esse si affiancano – su scala nazionale e internazionale – artisti, spazi indipendenti, centri educativi, istituzioni, festival, media. Un progetto nel quale si intrecciano aspetti culturali, artistici, sociali, educativi. Un luogo di formazione.
Velvet Factory vuole essere un punto di incontro tra Europa e Mediterraneo coinvolgendo artisti che vivono in luoghi che si affacciano su questo mare e guardando con particolare attenzione all’altra sponda dell’Adriatico.
A partire dalla musica e dal suono, a Velvet Factory si lavora in particolare su quelle forme d’arte che fanno del tempo il veicolo principale di indagine e creazione. Il laboratorium si svolge parallelamente nello spazio fisico ed elettronico e attraverso elettronica e digitale si creano opere innovative e in rete. Una stazione ricetrasmittente che produce radio, streaming e progetti collaborativi che intrecciano più media e più luoghi del mondo. Velvet Factory è uno spazio anche per artisti che creano opere di danza, musica, teatro. Attraverso residenze, gli artisti ospiti possono lavorare su loro progetti utilizzando le tecnologie della Factory e intrecciando perciò lo spettacolo ai suoi possibili sviluppi multimediali. Un incontro tra arti contemporanee e pop culture dove le opere realizzate possono trovare presentazione anche al vasto pubblico del Velvet.

Velvet Factory is a place of hospitality created starting from a network of art, science and education structures based in Rimini, with the partnership of the institutions: Associazione Slego, Giardini Pensili (performing arts / art / music / cinema), L’Arte dell’Ascolto (label), Scuola J. Bleger (school of prevention) and University of Bologna. These realities form the project’s operative centre which is supported by art groups, indipendent spaces, educative centres, institutions, festival and media. A project in which cultural, artistic, social and educative aspects are linked together. A training place as well. Velvet Factory wants to be a meeting place for Europe and the Mediterranean, involving artists coming from the cities which overlook this sea, with a particular attention for the other coast of the Adriatic Sea.
Starting from music and sound, Velvet Factory works in particular on those forms of art which have in time their main medium of research and creation. The laboratorium happens in both physical space and electronic space, and through electronics and digital techology innovative works will be created, also in the web. A transreceiving station which produces radio, streaming and colaborative project which mixes different media and places in the world. Velvet Factory is a place for artists who create works of dance, music and theatre. Living in residences, the hosted artists are able to use the Factory’s technologies to work on their projects, interweaving the spectacle and its multimedia expantions. A meeting between contemporary arts and pop cultures where the works created will eventually find a presentation to the Velvet’s vaste public.
