Given a box where I can give my description, I shall divulge my life story. My name is Chadwick Yip and I am an aspiring artist trying to stay afloat as a sous chef at Chez Panisse in San Francisco. I was born of Chinese descent into the upper-crust of society in New York City. How exactly did my family reach the status of societal elite? I shall elaborate upon that in the following sentences. My grandparents, who were scholars, came to Ellis Island in 1911, attempting to flee the persecution of the Manchu Qing regime of China. My grandparents then started up a humble grocery store in the Chinatown in New York. The grocery store was a phenomenal hit with the Chinese community of New York and spawned many copies throughout upper-New-York. With too much competition to bear, my grandparents then liquidated their assets and started Chinatown's first laundromat in 1937. That very year, they gave birth to my father. The laundromat, which was also a large hit with the Chinese community, funded my father's New York University education, with which he graduated summa cum laude in business. In 1950, my father started a pet grooming business, which derived much of its business from the New York elite. On a business trip to San Francisco, my father met my mother, also of Chinese descent, and they married in San Francisco. The pet grooming business allowed the Yip family to rocket into the New York societal elite. Then I was born and lived off a trust fund set aside by my father. I attended Brooklyn Technical High School and was slated for a Harvard Law education. However, I did not particularly enjoy the entire experience and the aristocracy at Harvard, and I dropped out my second year. Always intrigued by beauty, technique, and art, I decided to move to liberal San Francisco, leaving the aristocracy of New York behind for a humble beginning without a trust fund. With my mother's side of the family in San Francisco, I moved into my mother's twin sister's house in the Richmond district. My mother's twin sister, Temperance, was a chef by training and taught me to be a rather successful cook, allowing me to land a job at Chez Panisse. Also under my aunt's tutelage, I underwent some soul searching and decided I want to get into cartooning and art. With a full time job, I attended the San Francisco Art Institute during the night. Now here I am, attempting to doodle here and there, with the aspiration of having a comic on the interwebs. I update my doodles daily, so bookmark me or do whatever it is that you do.
