weissfoto says:
"I have a first edition of Matt's book "Urban Prisoner"
Many of the greats, Bruce Davidson, Elliot Erwitt, Marc Riboud, Weegee and Robert Frank and even HCB are brought to mind. But in the chaos that a street photographer must sort though to get that perfect image.....
Matt is masterful. His clear vision transcends the mundane into a very unique interpretation of city life.
There is one word for Matt..Genius and he exposes this quality in the blink of an eye."22nd April, 2009

adnauseum says:
"I have known Matt Weber for a relatively short time, but have been fortunate enough to collaborate on a few projects, and even to collect a couple of his prints. Matt is a true blood New Yorker (of a different era). Matt represents my favorite New York era, a grittier era of New York that some would like to forget, but has in an every way formed the best creative energies of the current day. Being a little older than myself, Matt is the connection to the ambient memories I have of New York in the eighties, when I'd visit from the NJ suburbs, with my father who worked in the city.
Matt has a unique ability to capture the energy of everyday New York like no one I know. I think that is why his work resonates so clearly with anyone who has ever walked these streets. They know his subject matter as the background of their own lives. He has the ability to capture it. The supermodels on the sidewalk and the fleeting glances of pervy men. The moments of connection, when a person realizes they are being photographed, but before they are able to react in a visible way. The scuffles and dramas that most people try to avoid noticing. These are the things that make up New York's streets and make it like no other city in the world. And these are the things that Matt looks at and captures like no one else."18th April, 2007

"It's hard not to enjoy the trips Matt offers the viewers of his images. They're always a pleasure to look at for their aesthetic, historic and technical value."

Dave Beckerman says:
"Man, what can I say about Matt's pictures? Honestly - I think there is genius in them. His book, The Urban Prisoner - I believe it will be a big collectors item one day soon. What else can I say - he's the real deal."
