UOIT is one of three Canadian Universities participating in EcoCAR: The NeXt Challenge. The program tasks 16 universities across North-America with redesigning a GM-donated vehicle to be more energy efficient, while maintaining the performance, safety and consumer appeal of the original vehicle. UOIT has designed and assembled the only Full Function Electric Vehicle (FFEV) in the competition.

EcoCAR: The NeXt Challenge is currently in its third and final year. The finals will take place June 6th-16th, 2011.
