I started to get serious about photography when my father, a professional photographer for 40 years, gave me his old Minolta lenses, and I paired them with a Sony DSLR. I love the classic Minolta colors and the build of the lenses.
I'm a backcountry fly fisherman, and landscape photography is the perfect companion hobby. Sometimes when the fishing is off, the picture-taking is on, and vice versa. Sometimes they're both off.
After getting my camera wet a few times and stepping on my fly rod and breaking it while setting up a shot, I've come to the conclusion that photography needs its own time. For me the real virtue of learning to see with the camera is that it teaches you to truly see without the camera.
