Ian Yorston was educated at Ludgrove School, Wellington College and St Peter's College, Oxford where he read Economics and Engineering Science. He spent over 10 years in the Royal Air Force, flew aeroplanes rather badly and managed to avoid getting hurt despite 3 wars. Much of his time was spent as an Engineer or as an Electronic Warfare Officer. He spent quite a lot of time working alongside Americans which wasn't an altogether bad thing.

He left the RAF in 1993 and moved to Radley College to teach Physics. He has variously been Head of Careers, Head of Physics and Head of Science. He is now Director of Digital Strategy. Most people ask what on earth that might entail...

He has been playing with computers since 1975.
