I'm Ursula (ula).

My art is personal, introspective, stark, dreamy and soft. I make pictures and mixed media collages. Photography has always been a means of documentation for me, I took my very first self-portrait in April of 2001. I hope to look back upon my art and remember each moment forever. When I am old and grey, I hope to relive these moments as if they were still happening.

WARNING: if you leave an insulting comment about weight or size, I will delete your comment and ban you, so don't bother, asshole.

I recently published a book of photo manipulations and writing through blurb.com. If you are interested, please purchase a copy.

"Ula is without a doubt one of my favorite flickr contacts. She has such a distinct style, that I've found myself referring to other shots by other people as "uneduex style" shots. She is a master of low light, dramatically lit shots. And I think the best way to describe Ula is sensual. She is an amazingly beautiful woman who is so confident in her own skin that she is instantly inspiring. I look forward to her daily posts and am never disappointed. I've even tried my hand at her style and found that it is FAR from easy! If you aren't already familiar with her, you absolutely must add her as a contact. You won't be sorry for a single second. And you're welcome!"

"Her photos are simply amazing. Her processing and compositions make the photos come to life. She has definitely inspired me into more portrait photography."

"I don't feel it is humanly possible for me to write, in just a paragraph or two, how deep Ula's talent reaches, but I will try!

Anyone who has ever taken a self-portrait knows how emotionally taxing a task it can be, and I admire anyone who has an extensive body of self-portraits. However, Ula's self-portraits are not only emotional, but they are by far the most *personal* self-portraits I have ever seen. She bares her soul with each and every one. Her writing is equally personal, and when combined with her photography, I feel as though I can see straight into her soul, and what an honor that is. She is not afraid to show the world her heart.

Her diptychs and macros, even though you do not see her face, are like self-portraits, as well. She really puts everything she has into her work, and what would be a lovely flower macro for some photographers, becomes a sonnet for Ula.

She is smart, sweet, funny, and has a laugh that, when you hear it, you cannot help but laugh, too.

Ula, you're amazing, and I'm so glad to have you in my life!"

"...who can explain "irresistibility"? she looks out into the world through the lens of her camera and we lean in toward the screen. We may trace our finger across the screen ~ finding a physical limit, but when there's something wondrous in the creation, then we take a breath and pour our imaginings in. ula’s magic is in being able to make us imagine the "next frame" that next moment in time when you know she smiled at the camera confident that the light would be "just so" and every little pixel would line up "just so" and we would be transfixed ... "just so"
It's a beautiful thing to be pulled in "irresistibly" ~
