Richard Newman has been working with body language since 1995, as a trainer, presenter and coach. He has trained more than 10,000 people, from 45 countries across Europe, America and the Middle East, showing them how to get better results in every business meeting, sales-pitch, negotiation, interview and presentation.

He enjoyed 5 years working with the McLaren Formula 1 team, delivering around 1000 presentations & hosting client meetings with VIPs from global companies all over the world.

His team have delivered training to clients in Paris, Rome, Madrid, Prague, Vienna, Dubai, London, Cincinnati, Chicago, Belfast, Munich, Atlanta and Orlando. His expertise has been featured in the prestigious American edition of Forbes Magazine. He has also been featured as a body language expert on SKY TV and on radio in Washington DC and Dublin, as well as in many national newspapers and magazines.

So, how do you become a body language expert?

It all started with monks, Formula 1 and an inspiring trip to the hairdressers.

Back in September 1995, I travelled to India to live in a Tibetan monastery, to teach English to monks. The monks didn't speak any English when I arrived, so we couldn't communicate through words! Teaching them for six months, I had to rely on body language to survive.

On my return to the UK I set about pursuing communication skills of a different nature at a professional acting school in London. They placed great emphasis on body language and how to stand, walk and gesture in a way that would have the strongest impact on every audience.

I was making TV commercials when my agent rang me about an audition with the McLaren Formula 1 Team. McLaren believed that my acting and body language skills would be useful in helping them to deliver their business presentations and VIP meetings. This temporary job developed into a longer relationship during which I presented and hosted over 1000 VIP meetings and events for them.

Meanwhile, my hairdresser, Tony, offered me a free haircut if I would conduct some ‘personal impact’ coaching for his hairdressers. They needed help with interpersonal skills and confidence with clients.

Soon they were talking to their customers about their ‘Personal Impact’ training and demand quickly grew. On the day our website went live the BBC called to discuss a TV project. As the work snowballed I built a team of trainers from the very best in the industry in order to respond to the demand for high level coaching.

Since then, highlights have included training the ‘Chief Medical Experts’ from around the world at an international conference in Prague, coaching celebrities to improve their TV interviews, and training 500 people in a West End theatre, to increase their personal impact at our ‘Express Show’ event.
