Howdy!

First things first. Teaching Photography to others and taking photos are a few of the things I love doing most! Light Painting Photography is one of my passions in photography and I have and online store called www.LightPaintingTools.com where you can purchase specialized tools specifically for Light Painting Photography! Check it out! I have also written an eBook on Light Painting and it is available for those that are interested. It is called "LIGHT PAINTING PHOTOGRAPHY - A Complete How To Guide for Beginners". This book is primarily for those that have no previous photography skills whatsoever or simply would just like to know more about the art of Light Painting Photography! You can find out more on my website.

Okay... Just a little bit about me...

I am basically a Jack of all trades, and Master at a few! ;-) A musician, geek, photographer, woodworker, pilot, and several other things all rolled into one. I have even been called a Mad Scientist on MANY occasions! Ha!

I have been into photography and have had a camera in my hands every since I was young but really only managed to get lucky with some good shots here and there. Photography has been a passion for a long time and I have focused on improving my technique and skills for several years now. As with everything, there is always something to learn and I now enjoy not only learning more about photography, but teaching it as well!

I am the founder and owner of Little Photo School which will be opening in it's first location in Plano, Texas very soon!

Around October, 2009 I became sort of obsessed with Light Painting have been working on different lighting techniques using different light sources since then. I love the challenges that Light Painting brings to photography and the technical side of me loves digging into the details and inventing some really cool light tools in the process of it all. It is really a lot of fun! I love teaching others how to get into Light Painting and general photography also! :-)

Most of my photos are as they come out of the camera (SOOC) or may have some minor levels adjustments or cropping but they are not created on the computer with a tool like Photoshop. Not that there is anything wrong with that. I would rather focus on getting it right in the camera. It is more of a technical and creative challenge to me. :-)

I have had several of my photos published in photo magazines and journals and I am always looking for ways to spread the word about photography and light painting whenever I can! I have always enjoyed teaching others about the art of photography whenever I can. In fact, I love doing that so much that I have turned that into my career!

Please feel free to leave comments and let me know what you think about my photos. I am always looking for ways to improve or other points of view. :-)

Please do not copy or use any photo without express written permission from myself to do so.

Recently my son (Cameron) has been getting into Light painting and general photography more as well. Please check out his Flickr stream also located here.

I would also like to recognize the following artists for their incredibly wonderful work in Light Painting and being a source of inspiration and support for me as well. (And these not in any particular order by any means! They are all tops in my book!) :-) Please visit their photostreams as well! :-)

    "Wow, where do I begin?

Mr. Mike is SO helpful! He is helping me get started in light painting. And that is really hard, considering how slow I can be at some times!

Now, onto this work. I am in AWE! His stream is amazing. I am surprised someone can have so much talent! He is so amazing and very sweet, and I am so happy that I met him! I am honored to call him not only my Flickr contact, but my friend as well!

Everyone, if you are going to look at his stream, save up a few hours for it. Once you start, you can't stop!"

"One of the most energetic, inspirational, compassionate, and positive people that I’ve ever met! Mike is blitzing it with all facets of his photography!

He doesn’t do things by halves, and anything he turns his hand to shows extraordinary care to all details. His light painting gadgets are nothing short of brilliant, with an end result that leaves the viewer sitting there staring in awe.

His willingness to share and inspire, and lead by example, really paves the way in uniting the light painting community, and promoting light painting as an art form.

I’m very honoured to call Mike a friend, and I can’t wait to see what he comes up with next :o)"

"Electronic Guru comes to mind when I think about TxPilot. I met him on July 22nd, 2010 working the Light Painting tent at FloydFest 9. The guy is amazing. He is a problem solver and extraordinary photographer. His ingenuity sets him aside from most. I can't wait to see what Mike creates in his photographs in the future. He gives us all something to think about when it comes to light painting and how limitless this form of art is. You are a super friend Mike and I'm extremely thankful I had the pleasure of meeting you!"

"I can't believe I'm TxPilot's first testimonial! TxPilot is just getting started on what already is and what will be a treasure trove of amazing photography. His concepts are original and his interests are right along the lines of what I find intriguing myself. (Light Painting, Macro, Bokeh, Water, you name it!) I look forward to seeing what he shares on the flickrsphere next."
