I'm native to California, born in Pasadena years ago. Except for a military career that took me to Vietnam, Taiwan, Thailand, Korea, Guam, and New York, I've been here most of my life.

I joined my brother in business in 1990, which he said required a pickup truck. So, I got a pickup. Two, in fact, which were 2WD, each eventually destroyed by accident or fire within 2 years of each other. The third was 4WD, and that was the start. Now I regret never having had 4WD earlier than 1994. 4WD gives you access to so many areas that most people will never see. All those wasted years, so to speak.

The desert is my favorite haunt, especially Anza-Borrego and Death Valley and its surrounds. Time constraints (work) or money constraints (no work) really put a damper on where (and how often) I get out.

Used to have a license plate ring that said "so many roads, so little time". So true.
