St. Laconic's photostream

My name is Steve, and I have an amateur interest in photography, cell phone photography in particular. It has become a favorite hobby of mine; not only taking pictures, but looking at pictures taken by others. I have an appreciation for nature and the world around us and it is very interesting to get to see the experiences and surroundings of others through photos.

I prefer using my cell to take snapshots because the old photographer's saying: "the best camera is the one you have on you" couldn't be closer to the truth, and I believe cell shots have a special character to them; you shoot right there, on the fly, as life is happening, candidly.

Photography is a new favorite hobby of mine and I look to continue improving on it as a skill as time goes on.

I also take pictures with a Samsung 10.2 MP that some friends and my wife were kind enough to get me =)

I enjoy urban photography the most, but seeing that I don't live in a particularly "urban" area, my options are pretty limited. I am from Chicago, and we go back to visit every now and then, so that creates some pretty good opportunities. I plan on visiting New York, San Fransisco, and other large cities in the future, so that will be a great opportunity for travel and my photography interests.

I am new to the hobby, so I welcome constructive and polite criticism on how to improve my photos.
