• My current project • is finding, compiling & copying our families extensive collection of photos & slides from our years living at the now 'Historic District" (Ntl. Register of Historic Places / US Registered Historic District) "Lake Hatchery" in Yellowstone, WY.

My father was one of the next generation of wildlife biologists who came to the Lake Hatchery, not to harvest & propagate cutthroat trout throughout the waters of Yellowstone, but to honor ceasing those operations and turn the facility into the headquarters for researching the waters and fish throughout all of Yellowstone Park, but especially the north shore area.

My father, F. Phillip Sharpe is the author of numerous technical papers ( www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/ref=ntt_athr... )
and the book "Yellowstone Fish and Fishing" which can be found from time to time, but is in limited availability as it is currently out of print. He went on to after our years in Yellowstone (~ 60-68) to continue his work as a wildlife biologist and environmental specialist for the Bureau of Reclamation; becoming the Asst. Regional Dir. for 'The Lower Colorado Region' overseeing water management throughout the southwest (including all of New Mexico, Nevada, Arizon and more areas), specifically Hoover Dam and the lower Colorado River.

He was among the team of Dr. Wayne Deason, (former Arizona State Senator & Current head of the Az. Water Dept) Herb Guenther (and himself) who were THE team that researched, secured the 'near Extinct' status for and created new habitat to begin attempts to breed and extend the lifespan of the Devil's Hole Pupfish.

While most of his years with the Bureau of Reclamation were spent in Boulder City, NV with the Lower Colorado Region office, he & us spent a few years in Burnsville, NM, then after Boulder City, he went onto Salt Lake City, UT and the Amarillo, TX, and Sacramento, CA.

After that he was a highly desired commodity in private water resources management and chose to work with CH2M Hill, and then Montgomery Watson, both in California for many years until his (semi) retirement in early 2000.

My & my sisters hope is to collect all our families personal photos and memories of living @ the 'Lake Hatchery' residence & the many brilliant grad students that passed through the hatchery in those years, along with my father's writings and technical papers; perhaps with the ultimate goal of donating them as a collection to the 'YellowstoneAssociation.org" - which would be very fitting as when my father wrote 'Yellowstone Fish And Fishing" and it was published back in 1970 that is where he donated ALL his publishing royalties and rights.

Any insight or other pictures - aside from the historical certification records that can be found via the current Wikipedia page on the "Lake Fish Hatchery" would be so gratefully welcomed. We would love to finish this project as my father comes towards the ending years of a wonderful life, as a honor to him and the unique, privileged and remarkable experiences he led our family on.
