I am a full time photographer, though I was trained as an architect. Another, more famous one (architect) once said that God is in the details. That's what I carry over from my architectural history into my photography. Some things are obvious, just begging to be photographed. Others are not. I've taken plenty of big pictures: domes, towers, canyons, skies. Everyone likes the grand composition, the big, larger then life picture, including me. But then there are the small, unnoticed details, the hidden moment, the stolen glance. Those are the things I’m always looking for and sometimes, when I’m lucky, I find them. I shoot a lot of photos in a lot of different ways.

I shoot with a variety of cameras, from old film cameras to new digital SLR's. I use a variety of lighting gear, including studio lights and smaller nikon flashes. Sometimes I've set up big fancy lights and lit it like a Hollywood film set and then have turned them off and just shot it with the available light instead. There's a time for lights and a time to just work with what you have. The best thing I've learned is that there is never just one answer and often the "wrong" way is the way that leads to a beautiful photograph.
