Heat, as thermal energy, is transmitted fundamentally in a topical manner, that is, by way of direct contact with skin. From here it radiates towards the affected areas, muscles, and organs where it will produce an increase in irrigation and with this will increase the filtering of pain inducing substances away from these zones and will promote the release of pain soothing substances such as endorphins and other neurotransmitters.
