Hi, Galen here...

Am I more a snorkeling nut or a photo nut? Probably one of the least important questions ever. Fortunately I have started taking pictures underwater, so problem solved.

My Photography History/Problem
My problem is too many cameras!

For many years I have loved doing landscape photography. But now I am getting into underwater photography and share that here.

I started photography in high school on my dad's old Nikon F with manual lenses and film (remember that stuff?). Then I moved up to the F3hp (maybe my favorite camera ever), then to the autofocus realm of the F100 (a great camera also).

Now I shoot a Nikon D60 Digital SLR, and love it for it's light weight and small lenses (I hike with it).

Underwater I have stuck to the point and shoot cameras, mostly because I snorkel and don't want a huge camera system. I have used the Fuji cameras with success (OK, I will let you decide that), both a Finepix F40fd and the F100fd, with their Fuji underwater housings. Most recently I started using a Canon S90 with the Canon housing, and I love it for it's manual controls, fast lens, and good high ISO performance (plus the fact I can adjust white balance with one button push). I also use a Magic Filter with available light and no flash for all of my shots.

I still have tons to learn when it comes to underwater photography, but it sure is fun! And I write about everything I learn. There is a ton of snorkeling camera information on my site, including a review of the Canon S90 for snorkeling.

Thanks for looking!

Galen
