Hmmm... Describe myself it says...

Well, my photo is available so it can't be that so I'll talk about my photography.

Although I am “LRPS” and did some passable photography fifteen years ago, I have become a snapper. I like to use lo-fi equipment including my mobile phone which can be an artistic tool – not that I am much of an artist.

I use mostly early Olympus Camedia cameras and have a small collection of them which one day I will photograph. I also have a smaller collection of Canon digital and film (both FD & EOS), two Mamiyas (645 & TLR) and a Fuji 645 rangefinder. I still have a collection of Minolta Hi-matics. Altogether I have over a hundred cameras from a 1915 Ensign 2 1/4B up to the most recent which is a Sony Cyber-shot HX9V.

The trouble is, life gets in the way of photography and I don’t do as much as I would like.

I was born and live in Essex. The trouble with the part that I live in (south east) is that it is dirty and overcrowded. I love Devon, especially East Devon and Dartmoor. Essex may be my mother but Devon will be my wife and one day I will leave home.

My current project is scanning old negatives from about 1979 onwards. That was when I left home and got married. With my college negs I must have about 10/12,000 to get through. I have done about 10%. The trouble with this task is that I get nostalgic and keep calling my wife to see images appearing of my children as babies, or the cat, or the Datsun that we used to own. Most images are of mediocre quality but some are of interest and I will get around to posting the best of them one day.

I would like to document the roads around where I live for Geograph as images of streets of semis and terraced houses often get overlooked in the Geograph-type of project.

I also run a Jaguar car. Jaguars being an interest of mine since the 70s. Now that I have my own, I think I would like another and become “two Jags” like the former Deputy Prime Minister.

For the moment, I remain at work in London doing a very interesting job. I must get out with a camera more often...
