banal but brave
If you can't see too many pages before or any photos above the one titled NEW WORK, you have not been marked a friend -- if you consider yourself my buddy or would like to share our way of seeing with one another... drop me a note.
Sorry 'bout this. My photos are not public domain images for anyone to add content to their site or use in any manner that infringes on my copyrights.

...I will probably be phasing this account out (or just remove the archives & start again fresh -- not sure yet) in 2010. flickr has changed. I have changed and change is good. Thanks to all of you who have been along for the ride. You know who you are & how special I think you are too.
Cheers, dears.

"Didi's images are like a single frame from a movie as you view each one you are in anticipation of the next frame. I guess if you put her photostream together it runs very much as a movie of her life. Another aspect of Didi is the tremendous comments that she thoughtfully writes for so many people. Thanks Didi"

"Didi is a kind, thoughful person who has a keen and subtle eye. It is evident when you look at her work (Best Viewed Large) that she has a true understanding of what a photograph is. So many of her photographs show us the subtle wit of everyday life in beautiful color, soft tones, and sometimes in striking, boldly lit scenes. She is a master at photographing personal moments in public places, and she does so while being considerate and respectful to her subject."

"A new batch of photos from Didi is like arriving at your favourite place for a picnic. It’s always time to go home before you’re ready! The quirkiness that abounds here opens up a whole new world to us. As the common folk go about their business, Didi is there to tease out the magical elements in the ordinary side of life. Yep, life isn’t so bad really… Oh, and don’t forget to look through the archives, too."

"Words alone cannot do proper justice in expressing the sweet anomaly known as whirrdz.
An undeniable photographic talent and powerhouse, D has been THE guiding light for my Flickr endeavors (Street Utopia wouldn't have existed without her.) And I would venture to say that she has shined the way for many of her other contacts and friends. Her photo commentaries are all at once incisive and cunningly elegant gracing some of the best Flickr street imagery with her punchy humor and generosity. Read one of her comments, and you'll be smiling for days in between all of the witty banter. Above all, she has carved her own land in the land down under with images that brim with intoxicating layers that keep you wondering. There is simply no one that captures wondrous ambiguity like her.
Cheers, D. Keep fighting the good fight. I'll be with you all the way."22nd July, 2007

"Didi doesn't know it but she single-handedly spared my camera the smashing-into-concrete end that it almost suffered. Her kindness, sweet sense of humor, sincere enthusiasm and practical incitement have been paramount in making the flickr experience fun.
And if that's not enough... she makes damn great photographs out of everyday scenarios that most of us would normally walk right on by. A keen eye for photography, a sharp as a tack wit for commenting, and an orderly, and firm but friendly sense of responsibility to her pools... You will not find a finer flickr friend."10th July, 2007

"Didi is a very keen & insightful observer of the world around her; that she lets us be a part of it through her photographs is a real boon indeed. I'm glad to have met her in this small area of cyberspace. May you never tire of shooting, friend :-)"

"Didi is a very kind and thoughtful person, if it wasn't for her I would probably still be struggling to find my place on flickr. She has gone out of her way to help me and many other Flickr members.
Her photographs don't follow any fad's but are truly taken for herself, she's not trying to be original, she just is.
As for the whirrdz, they just flow.
Here's to you Didi! thankyou for everything."14th March, 2007

"I knew her first as whirrdz, the person who gave a "Goodonya"
...so that's where our friendship all started...
then I knew her as Didi, the person I respect.
The person who always makes my day thru
her unusual and remarkable photos.
The photos I envy, she can make any subject into GLORY
whatever the form or shapes. Breathing or non-breathing!
The person who can see the inner beauty of any things surrounding her.
and finally she's D, very thoughtful, very supportive.
...and thats what she is!"16th November, 2006

Paul Grand says:
"As a second in command Admin for Man Ray I can always count on Didi for trying and mostly succeeding in keeping the rest of us Admins sensible and grounded.
Didi is the first and most prolific Admin. poster on the Man Ray group.
Her work easily falls into the sublime category for her creativity, technique and photographic talent.
Her writing skills put the rest of us poor Admins into the shade. And now I find Didi is just as good with CS2 and Graphics!
She also shares our love for all animals and nature and is the owner of several lovely dogs.
When I first saw her crazy, 'Thinking About People-Watching in Mono, Everybody Doing Things All At Once, & A Dalmatian', picture I was bowled over, the depth and levels of her work knocked me for six. Her pictures demand to be seen over and over again to catch all the subtle nuances.
We are all so pleased and privileged to know that our talented and generous antipodean living friend is watching over us!"8th October, 2006

lensjockey™ says:
"I don't know what her screen name means. oh, now I think I do. or moreso. if you want to see what goes on between the pictures other people would take, I say look at hers. the up-close, wide-angly, full color black and white of her world defies the rules of what you need in a picture. the tiny people on the huge dunes of this world and the guernica by the pool say a different thing than, than the, the complex electric stage of the world complete with dogs, lampposts and people with balloons on their heads.
transporrted is a good word for it."5th August, 2006
