I fall into the catagory of "Keen Amateur" when it comes to photography. I've been using film since the age of 12, but discovered the joys of digital 2004.
In October 2006 I bought my first D-SLR, a Canon EOS 400D and I haven't been able to put it down since. So far I've taken well over 10,000 photos with it, but would like to upgrade to a Semi-Pro D-SLR when I can afford to.
